This price includes the cost of the fixing, and fitting the fixing to the shelf. It does not include attaching the shelf to a wall.
How many you need: one fixing every 300mm if the shelf is carrying real weight, or every 500mm if it is more decorative. I.e. An 1800mm shelf loaded with books takes 6. The same shelf used as a display ledge takes 4.
Why we fit them for you: the fixing sits in a hole drilled into the back edge of the shelf, and that hole has to run dead straight. We drill it in stages, starting with a small pilot bit and opening it up to full diameter, with the shelf clamped square on the bench. Drilled freehand it is very easy to drift, and a hole that wanders leaves the shelf sitting proud of the wall or dropping at one end.
