Description
The IKEA Mittzon is IKEA’s current sit/stand desk system, replacing the Bekant. If you want a solid wood top to replace the standard Mittzon laminate, choose from the nine options below: three widths, three woods, all at 20mm and pre-drilled to fit.
Choose your size and wood
All standard tops are 680mm deep and 20mm thick, pre-drilled to fit the Mittzon underframe.
Want a different thickness, i.e. 32mm oak? You can order any size using the custom sized top product. Adding “Mittzon, [thickness]mm” to the extras field (e.g. “Mittzon, 32mm”) means we know to pre-drill the right holes. A thicker top will sit higher than the plug-in cable module at the rear. Not a structural issue, but worth knowing.
Understanding the depth
The Mittzon system uses a plug-in module: a 120mm deep cable management channel that attaches to the rear of the frame and spans its full width. The desk top sits in front of this, fixed to the frame at the back edge.

The back edge of the top is fixed to the frame and integral to the structure. It cannot be moved or extended. Any depth variation therefore affects the front of the desk only. A modest front overhang is fine, but there is no support past the frame footprint, so do not push it too far. Going shallower than 680mm is not recommended as the top will not cover the frame properly.

This requires a custom order rather than one of the nine standard options above.
Wider top (overhanging the sides): The top needs to overhang by at least 20mm on each side. So a minimum of 1240mm for a 1200mm frame etc. This also requires the full 800mm depth, with a recessed cutout machined at the rear to accommodate the plug-in module. There is some material waste in this approach, but it is a clean result.
To oversize, use our custom sized top product and add “Mittzon compatible” to the extras field. This make sure we pre-drill the holes in the right places, it also includes free planing to 20mm, and the cable management cutout where needed (no custom shape fee). Specify your full footprint (e.g. 1300 x 800mm). If you would prefer to keep the top at 22mm rather than have it planed to 20mm, add “Mittzon compatible, 22mm” instead.
